Today, I’d like to talk about the PS5 black screen issue after the PS logo. The problem could happen due to various factors. If you encounter the same problem, you can try the following fixes one by one to solve it.
Fix 1: Restart Your PS5 Console
Sometimes the PS5 black screen after logo can be fixed by a restart and you should have a try once you get stuck on the PS5 black screen.
You just need to press the power button and hold for about 10 seconds to shut down the console completely. Then disconnect the power cable. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes and then you can reconnect the power cable and turn on your PS5 console. Check if it works properly.
If the “PS5 stuck on black screen” issue appears again, you should move on to the next fix.
Fix 2: Change Output Resolution
Improper output resolution is one of the possible reasons for PS5 black screen after logo. Since you might be unable to access the user interface due to the PS5 black screen issue, you can change the output resolution in PS5 safe mode. And here are the detailed steps.
Step 1: Turn off your PS5 completely.
Step 2: Press the power button and hold for about seven seconds. You can release the button after you hear the second beep.
Step 3: Press the PS button on your PS5 controller to boot your PS5 in Safe Mode. And there are 7 options available:
- Restart PS5

- Update System Software
- Restore Default Settings
- Rebuild Database

- Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software)
Step 4: Select the second option Change Video Output in Safe Mode. Then select Change Resolution.
Step 5: You will receive a message saying that PS5 will require a restart, and you can change resolution after the restart. Just select OK to continue.
Step 6: Select a lower video resolution. Then you will access the PS5 login screen.
Fix 3: Check for HDMI Cable Issues
Usually, a PS5 console is connected to the TV via an HDMI cable. If your HDMI cable doesn’t work, you would encounter a PS5 black screen.
You can troubleshoot the problem by using a different HDMI cable or trying to connect to other devices via the HDMI cable. If your HDMI cable is corrupted, please replace it.
Fix 4: Reset Your PS5 Console
If PS5 won’t go past PS logo after you try all the fixes above, you might need to reset your PS5 console.
Please note that resetting the PS5 will restore the console to factory settings, which means all your personal data will be deleted. Therefore, please back up your PS5 console in advance.
