It’s quite annoying to find out that your PS4 controller is blinking white light and goes into an unresponsive state. It’s a common problem that many PS4 users have encountered. Don’t worry, try the following solutions one by one and the issue will be removed.
Solution 1: Reset PS4 Controller
Resetting PS4 controller can solve various problems, such as PS4 controller flashing white, PS4 Bluetooth issue, PS4 not syncing or connecting, etc. You should try this solution immediately when your PS4 controller is blinking white.
Step 1: Turn off your PS4.
Step 2: Press the reset button on your controller for 3 seconds with a small pin. The reset button is on the back of your controller near the L2 shoulder button.
Step 3: Once you reset PS4 controller, re-pair the controller with your PS4 and turn your PS4 on.
Now you can check if the problem has been solved. If PS4 controller flashing white still exists, you need to try the next solution.
Solution 2: Press PS and SHARE Button
Many PS4 users have tried another workaround which is proved to be effective. Just press and hold the PS and SHARE button at the same time. Wait for a few seconds until your PS4 is turned on. Then try to see if your PS4 controller works properly.
Solution 3: Use Another Controller
If the solutions above don’t work for you, you can use another controller to make some changes in the PS4 settings and then connect your original controller which is blinking white. If you don’t have another controller, you can borrow one from your friend.
Step 1: Connect the alternative controller to the console and make sure it is working.
Step 2: Use the alternative controller to navigate to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth Devices. There should be only the working controller present in this window.
Step 3: Now, on the problematic controller, press and hold the PS and SHARE button at the same time until you see the light bar flash twice every second or so.
Step 4: Use the working controller to select the not-working controller and the problematic one will attempt to pair with your PS4. When you’re asked to connect to the new device, just press Yes.
Now the problem PS4 controller flashing white should be removed.
Solution 4: Update System Software in Safe Mode
There is an update available for the software provided by Sony which helps fix many bugs or problems. You can try this solution when your PS4 controller is blinking white.
Step 1: Press the power button on the PS4 to turn it off. The indicator will blink a few times.
Step 2: Press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps (for about 7 seconds).
Step 3: Connect the PS4 controller with a USB cable and press the PS button. Now you are in Safe Mode.
Step 4: Select Update System Software and wait for it to complete the process.
Now you can try to use your PS4 again to check if the problem has been solved.
