IBM and Fujitsu are considered as the best data centre outsourcers and hybrid infrastructure management services provider by Gartner, a global research and advisory firm. This post and give you more detailed information as well as a brief introduction about IBM and Fujitsu company.
IBM , Fujitsu – the Best Data Centre Outsourcers for Asia-Pacific
Gartner has identified IBM and Fujitsu as leaders in its Magic Quadrant for data center outsourcing and hybrid infrastructure managed services for Asia-Pacific. The analyst company assessed the nine suppliers in the region, including Australia which was considered as a mature region because of their “proven ability to deliver in multiple regional countries.”
The study assessed the ability of these service providers to provide data center outsourcing (DCO) and hybrid infrastructure management services (HIMS).
It also includes private cloud hosting services, ERP hosting services, mainframe managed services, data center transformation and cloud migration services, infrastructure utility services (IUS), remote infrastructure management and edge data center hosting services. Gartner’s research took place between June 2017 and April 2018.
IBM ranks first in the quadrant and has the widest range of business in the Asia-Pacific region. The company’s outsourcing revenue in 2017 is estimated at $27 billion, of which $1.2 billion comes from DCO/IUS in the Asia-Pacific region in 2017.
The company manages 15,625 physical servers, 58,998 virtual machines and 21,903 public cloud managers. IBM also provides ERP hosting for SAP and Oracle systems, with 241,313 users and 120,656 users, respectively.
According to Gartner, the strengthen of IBM is that it can combine its IP with hosting solutions from AWS and Microsoft Azure, as well as a cloud migration factory approach to accelerate migration.
Gartner recommends that customers take advantage of IBM’s Watson AI capabilities by integrating them into delivery frameworks. Gartner said IBM was still seen as a bigger vendor for big customers. IBM has been working to address these issues by bringing decisions closer to customers and working with mid-market customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
In terms of public cloud services, IBM also relies on its own technology and has limited footprint in AWS and Azure.
Fujitsu’s DCO / HIMS business in the Asia-Pacific region is much smaller than IBM’s, but the growth rate is faster, with revenue growing by 29% to $253 million in 2017.
The company manages 3,931 physical servers and 14,373 virtual machines in the region, but the number of public cloud virtual machines has tripled to 882 from last year. Fujitsu also provides ERP hosting for 10,860 SAP users, but has no Oracle footprint.
Fujitsu focuses on hybrid IT infrastructure management and vertical focus on health, retail, finance and manufacturing. The company has also established a team of digital pursuit experts and a digital services business specializing in cloud, analysis, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence to support “digital co-creation” with customers.
Fujitsu’s growth comes from its DCO business and the growth of its hosted servers and public and private cloud-hosted virtual machines.
Gartner warned that Fujitsu had not yet launched K5 OpenStack availability in the region and that customers should explore the product portfolio carefully. Compared with some minority players, Fujitsu’s installation base is smaller, and there is no mainframe management footprint in the region. Large financial institutions should investigate first.
